NJB is a storyteller who conveys his unique observations of life through drawings, music, film, photography and the printed word. Growing up between The Deep South and The West Coast, Noah experienced a juxtaposition of cultures and values which profoundly impacted his creative voice. A graduate of San Francisco's Magnate School of The Arts (SOTA), Noah cites as his major influences his father, Ken Blakey, a noted fashion photographer and cinematographer; Southern Gothic author Flannery O'Connor; and jazz legend Chet Baker.
"I have been a musician my entire life. My father was always spinning the most avant-garde music while my people in Mississippi weaned me on Methodist hymns and the Top 40 of the 50s and 60s." Noah recently recorded a live album and is currently working on a documentary about his recording experiences and eccentric family.
Noah lives between Silverlake and Southern Mississippi. He exhibits his work in Los Angeles galleries and is currently working on his first book, Picayune, a collection of photos about The Deep South, a mysterious place capable of such beautiful dreams and terrible nightmares.
